Newfoundlands (100-150 pounds) are gentle, loyal, and calm, ideal for families with space. They’re excellent with kids but need supervision due to size. Moderate exercise (1-2 hours daily, walks or swimming) suits them; their thick coat needs frequent brushing.
Feed 5-7 cups daily of Royal Canin Giant Breed Adult Dry Dog Food, with 23% protein and glucosamine for joint health, as Newfs are prone to hip dysplasia. Split meals to prevent bloat. Best for outdoor living in cooler climates with indoor access, they’re not for apartments or hot regions.
